Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d have my podcast Ctrl Alt Career and be a career coach a year later.

This was me a year ago.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d have my podcast Ctrl Alt Career (https://lnkd.in/gX9aXxT) and be a career coach a year later.

A year ago I was stuck in Singapore, coming out of two months of strict lockdown where all my social interactions were on a screen and I really struggled as an extrovert.

A year ago my extreme boredom brought me to start a few side projects.

One of the ideas I started exploring was a topic I’ve always felt very passionate about - why do so many people hate their jobs and why is it that the some of the smartest people in the world end up in soul crushing jobs.

I had initially thought maybe I could write a blog (but got laughed out of it - “are you still living in 2010?!”) or maybe a dedicated IG page (but it felt too bite sized to share anything substantial).

Starting a podcast seemed a little too out of my comfort zone - how would I even set one up? How do I record? How do I edit? Who would even listen? How would I even get it out there?

But I thought done was better than perfect. That action was better than overthinking and overplanning.

So I did. I read a few websites on how to start a podcast, opened up my voice memo app and recorded the trailer to my podcast.

It wasn’t perfect - far from it.

But I’m so glad I took that first step, because along the way, I’ve made new friends, met so many interesting guests, and even eventually become a career coach.

Things I never in a million years planned for or could have expected.

So I want to urge you to take action TODAY, even if it is the smallest step towards doing something for you, building up towards your dream.

You really don’t know what can come out of it.

If you have any questions about starting a side hustle or if you are trying to figure out what’s next for your career, feel free to reach out to me. I’d love to hear your story and bounce ideas!
