Meet my client C.

She has a background in accounting and tax. Little surprise then, that she ended up doing tax work at her family’s company.

However, she found the work to be frustrating and wanted to move on

But had no idea how or what else would be a better fit.

Which is how we started working together.

Her original idea was to work at a VC or in fintech because of her interest in startups and finance, and because it sounded cool and prestigious.

But through test driving careers as a VC investor and business development roles at fintech companies, we realised that these weren’t the right translation of her career values, interests and strengths

Instead, what she truly cared about was:

1️⃣ Helping others through education

In particular, she was interested in expanding the financial awareness for women because she saw how the power of investing changed her life

2️⃣ Writing

She had always loved writing but always thought to keep it as a hobby

3️⃣ Creating impact and building something from scratch through entrepreneurship

She had once built her own healthcare startup, connecting people who needed nursing care with nurses who were available!

The startup was eventually shut down because she went to work with her family, but her interest in entrepreneurship and personal development never went away.

With that clarity in mind, we focused on helping her:

✅ Land freelance writing gigs in fintech

Which she did!

She now helps fintech companies write product launch pieces when the need arises.

✅ Build her own  personal finance coaching business

With this coaching service, she helps women achieve financial freedom by learning how to invest.

This is a particularly acute problem given that women traditionally hold onto cash. They don’t think about investing or learning how to make their money grow!

If there’s one key takeaway from C’s story, it’s this: You need to know yourself well.

Once you do, you’ll be able to figure out the career opportunities available and start making little inroads to turn that dream into reality.
