As we settle into 2024, here are 8 lessons from 2023:
1️⃣ I grew
Many years can pass without much happening, only for it to accelerate in one year.
This happened to me in 2023 when I:
✅ Grew my business by 7x in revenue
✅ Expanded my team from 0 to 10 pax
✅ Built a community of 100+ likeminded high achievers
✅ Built an online course & group coaching program
✅ Grew an entire human being
That’s just some of the highlights!
2️⃣ I dared to dream
I made big dreams for my business and surrounded myself with people several steps ahead of me.
As a result, my mind expanded, my limiting beliefs reduced and I realised that there were so many more opportunities out there than I had ever imagined.
3️⃣ I invested in myself
I picked up many new skills in 2023, including learning how to run paid ads.
The result of this plus the creation of promotional media ads is that I can now run online campaigns without further effort while still generating new clients!
It’s been a real game-changer for my business.
4️⃣ I built a personal brand
2023 was the year I took personal branding seriously. And it paid off.
Within a year, I went from 2k to 13.5k followers on LinkedIn. My first month of taking LinkedIn seriously saw my monthly revenue exceed the amount that I had earned working in a Singaporean startup for a year.
I was also invited to speak on panels by the General Assembly, Thrive etc. and that’s just the start.
5️⃣ I made data-backed decisions
I used the 80/20 rule to focus on needle-moving tasks and spend minimal time and effort on everything else that wasn’t working. Specifically, the things that only I can do.
6️⃣ I focused
At the start of the year, I was working on 3 different projects:
👀 Expanding a DTC handbag company from the US to Asia
👀 Building a fashion SAAS software
👀 Running my career coaching business
That period was pure madness but I quickly learned the importance of focus and doubled down on my coaching business.
While the other opportunities were exciting, they were also distractions!
7️⃣ I learned patience
I learned that no matter how many detailed plans I made, some things just take time when growing a business and also… a baby!
8️⃣ I let go
As a Type A, I want to be in control of everything and that’s exactly what I did when I launched my coaching business - I handled everything from sales calls to marketing and coaching sessions.
But in 2023, I decided to let go and hire people who specialised in the things I needed to have done.
And saw my revenue x7 in a year!
Now as I reflect on 2023 and prepare for motherhood, I realise that 2024 is going to be another year of great change.
But also tremendous growth and opportunities.
What are YOU most looking forward to in 2024?
