To show case your passion for the industry

E.g.: Looking to get into VC?
Start a blog where you document startups that you'd want to invest in

Want to get into UI/UX?
Take a company's app and mock up what you think they can do better

2. Identify a potential problem the team is facing
(Bonus tip: Prepare a potential solution as well)

It not only shows you've done your research but that you're putting yourself in their shoes.

3. Present an out of the box idea
This way it levels out the playing field and you can brainstorm on the same playing field as the interviewer.
