Why I Left My Dream Job at a Fashion Startup😱
I spent the first 7 years of my career in finance at Blackrock, and the last 3 years at my dream job at a fashion startup in Singapore called Style Theory. If you’re not familiar with Style Theory, it’s basically like Rent the Runway, where you rent clothes and bags for a monthly fee.
I truly loved what I did at Style Theory, it was amazing in so many ways
I had the opportunity to work in an industry and for a cause I truly believed in
It also hit on my love for psychology and understanding consumer behavior
Desire to learn how to build a business and the opportunity to prove to myself that I could build a business from scratch
My values of autonomy, impact, challenge
And so why did I quit?
My ultimate goal was always to start my own start-up up
My goals evolved and I had a new goal - which was to be an entrepreneur
Got the confidence to build my own company
I learned what I wanted to learn
But trust me it wasn’t an easy decision - there were so many moments in between when I doubted my decision
But this one question really helped me get clarity - would I learn more by staying or if I left?
And with that, I knew the decision I had to make.
And for those of you who are seriously thinking about leaving behind your job, I’ll be sharing my exact step-by-step framework on how to decide if you should quit your job in the next episode, so hit subscribe so you don’t miss it!
