Mediocrity kills.
And chances are that you’re in a mediocre situation now.
You might not even recognise it as “mediocrity” but it likely looks like this;
✅ You work in an ok job
✅ Your salary pays the bills
✅ You take short vacations now and then to “recharge”
✅ You’re neither excited about the work nor driven to climb the career ladder but it’s still a “job”.
But you stay, because you have no idea what else you can do.
This lukewarm position - where you’re neither suffering nor thriving - is a place of mediocrity.
Because over time, you grow complacent.
Become mediocre.
But you’re not desperate to get out because there is just enough to keep you there
That said, you know that something is missing.
This can’t be all there is to life.
And you’re right - there is more to life than complacency and mediocrity.
Getting out of this state can be tough unless you create a pull factor for yourself
What helped me was finding mentors and career heroes who are several steps ahead.
It made me realise what I dreamed of is possible
It stretched my mind and broke my limiting beliefs.
What helped me take that leap of faith to leave my corporate job was when I saw others around me do so successfully
I was so inspired, that I started my podcast - Ctrl Alt Career to help others believe and see possibilities in their careers where they were previously held back by limiting beliefs and fears.
And today I’ve built a community to connect my clients with other like-minded folks to help them level up.
I did the same myself with my coaching business.
I didn’t think it was possible to hit $10k/month until I started seeing my peers do it. Then I realised that it was possible and started to make it my target.
Which I eventually hit.
Then I surrounded myself with the next-level players and started achieving revenue goals that I never thought possible before.
And I know that without those career heroes, I would likely settle with just $5k/month.
Because sometimes, we need to see people around us achieve something “impossible” to make it a reality for ourselves.
So if you think it’s possible to change industries or land a job that pays you what you’re worth, start looking for stories of people who have done the same.
The stories are out there.
You just need to look for it.
And if you need extra inspiration to level up in your career and stop settling for mediocrity, submit a form, “COMMUNITY.”
I’m a career coach who specialises in helping high-performing professionals pivot from a “perfect on paper” to a “perfect for you” job and I’m sure I can do the same for you!
