How I pivoted from a “perfect on paper” job to a “perfect for me” career
This was me 5 years ago -
- I felt disoriented - I did not want what was laid out next in my career but I also did not know what I wanted
- I felt nervous giving up a job that was perfect on paper
- I felt confused - I achieved what I thought I wanted in my career so why am I not more thrilled?
- I had lost my sense of self and confidence, and found myself binge traveling and spending frivolously just to escape from my life and make myself feel better
If you told me that 5 years later I would -
- Wake up energized to work and not have Sunday blues
- Have built my own business, a dream I didn’t realize I always had
- Get to help people build a career they love - a mission I feel strongly about
- Have the flexibility to work from wherever I want, whenever I want
I would have laughed you out of the room.
So how did I get myself into a "perfect for me" career?
1) I changed how I reacted to my circumstances.
I stopped blaming, I stopped victimizing myself, I stopped procrastinating, I stopped complaining, and instead committed to taking action.
2) I sat down and did the hard work of really getting to know myself
What I valued, what my strengths were, what I was interested in, instead of spending time editing and blasting my resume everywhere
3) I leveraged my network and really put myself out there
I reached out to people who I hadn’t talked to in years, I shamelessly leveraged 2nd degree connections, and talked to everyone who would talk to me
I don’t want you to waste 5 years of your life and go through the same emotional trauma that I had to (and am still healing from) just to find a career you love.
That’s why I created my 1:1 career coaching program to help you identify and build your dream career without going to business school.
