5 years ago I said goodbye to my corporate job

I said goodbye to a six-figure salary

I said goodbye to a prestigious job

I said goodbye to wonderful colleagues who were smart, inspiring, and kind

And while a small part of me felt relieved for making a decision

And while a small part of me was excited for the adventure ahead

Mostly I remember so vividly shaking from fear on my last day

Had I made the worst decision of my life?

What did I do?!

Was this the right move?

What am I thinking?

This is such a good job —

Why would I do this to myself?

⏩ Fast forward four years now and I still get goosebumps.

Thinking about what has happened in the past 5 years...

Things I never in my wildest dreams could have ever imagined.

Things I never thought I’d ever have the opportunity to do in this lifetime.

Let alone over the course of 5 years.

In the last 5 years, I got to -

💪🏻Lead the expansion of a fashion rental business into a brand new country
💪🏻Appear on The Straits Times not once, but twice (!!)
💪🏻Get interviewed by TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited)
💪🏻Built a multiple 6-figure career coaching business from scratch
💪🏻 Help so many people get career clarity and pivot into careers they wake up excited about
💪🏻 Bring in an income higher than what I’ve left behind

But the biggest thing I really gained is the realization that life doesn’t fall apart if you decide to leave a traditional path behind.

And that what seems risky may be the least risky option of them all.

Because there’s so much less competition out here.

Everyone is so afraid of leaving behind a corporate job to build something for themselves, 5hat we overestimate how challenging it is to build a life on your own terms.

And so today I want to remind you that the scariest decision you ever make in your life can also be the best decision you’ll ever make in your life.

There are certain risks that are worth taking in life.

And if this resonated with you and you’re trying to figure out how you can take the same risks in your life...

Contact me RISK. I’d love to have a chat and see how I can help you build a career on your own terms.
