PSA: Your company is not your best friend.
Which is a lie that I used to believe.
I used to think that my company would take care of me, have my best interests in mind, and look after what I wanted.
I’ve had many clients tell me the same!
💭 “My company has done so much for me, I feel bad leaving.”
💭 “We’re so short-staffed already, my boss and colleagues won’t survive without me. I can’t possibly leave.”
But here’s a reality check: The company will never always have your back.
Even if you have the best supervisor, colleagues, benefits, and opportunities in the world.
Because at the end of the day, you’re just an employee to them.
A number on their P&L
The day I tendered my resignation was also the day HR started looking for a replacement.
It turns out that even though I was an excellent employee, I wasn’t THAT indispensable after all.
Business and life continued on.
It’s easy to over-emphasize your importance at the company.
It can easily become our whole world and our whole identity since we dedicate so much of our lives to it.
But just make sure you don’t use it as an excuse to not pursue your own career goals.
Because at the end of the day, no one is going to care more about your career than you.
So if you’re ready to take control of your career, message me “CONTROL”.
I’ve guided many lost high-achievers from companies like EY, Amazon, Google, Shopee and more. I’d love to guide you too.
