My husband & I are polar opposites.
I’m an extrovert and love:
🥰 Fashion;
🥰 Socialising; and
🥰 Building communities.
He’s an introvert and all about:
🤷🏻♂️ Numbers;
🤷🏻♂️ Working independently; and
🤷🏻♂️ Zero social media presence.
His idea of a good time is sitting at home alone (my version of a nightmare!)
But… he has always been my biggest cheerleader in life.
He was there -
❌ When I was so lost in my career
❌ When I knew I wanted more in my career but had no idea what that looked like
❌ When I started (and failed) in my many different side hustles (designing phone cases, starting a line of pencil skirts…)
❌ When everyone around me thought I was crazy and kept asking me why I would throw away such a great salary and prestigious job
❌ When I was hopping on sales call after sales call and still not able to convert them into clients
❌ When I was ready to throw in the towel and just go back to finance
But I never have, because of his unwavering belief in me.
And in those early days, sometimes all you need is someone in your corner, fighting with you for your dream.
But along the way, he gave me a very important piece of advice:
Give this your best shot for 6 - 9 months. If it doesn’t work out, you can find a job. But at least you’ll have tried.
So 1 year ago, I did.
I quit my job a mere 2 weeks before our wedding!! 👰🤵
And since then, I’ve:
✅ Learned to build a team
✅ Invested in programs & coaches that jump-started my new career path
✅ Made more in 1 month than in an entire year working at a startup
So here are my 2 takeaways:
1️⃣The right partner in life is invaluable.
Without him, I won’t be where I am today.
He keeps me sane, balances me out & always reminds me that what I’m doing matters.
And if you’re looking for a cheerleader - send me a message, I’d love to be that for you and bring you inside our community
2️⃣Timelines make things less scary!
Entrepreneurship was daunting until I set a timeline, and then it became much more manageable.
So if you’re thinking of tackling a new venture or experimenting to find your dream job, then set a deadline for yourself.
E.g. I’m going to give my 💯 in building this app for the next 6 months and see where it goes.
You never know.
Your dream job might be a mere 6 months away! 😉
