I don’t want to be an ambitious person in 2024.

Here’s why:

Ambition is good. It drives and pushes you to always try to reach the next level.

But it is also exhausting.

And makes it easy to lose sight of what truly matters.

For me, what truly matters this year is finding a balance between becoming a first-time mother and still running my career coaching business.

Specifically:

1️⃣ Figure out how to run a true business

Right now, the business runs me.

I have to always be present and review much of the work that gets done by other people.

In other words, I have a high-paying job with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility - which is great, but not sustainable in the long run!

2️⃣ Navigate motherhood

I think I must’ve consumed every parenting book/course in existence, as any first-time parent would have!

But I’m sure that reality will be very different from the stories that I’ve heard and read about being a mother.

Which complicates the process of setting SMART goals for myself when it comes to being a mother.

And my goal this year is to be ok with not trying so hard to achieve

And to just be.

To try not to measure myself against any yardstick

And to just be.

The hard part? Trying to combine both of these goals.

To be a great mother without losing myself in motherhood because I still feel strongly about helping people find their dream careers.

And I recognize that maybe this is the year where goals will need to be more fluid and revised along the way.

And perhaps the ultimate goal is to give me the grace and time to figure this all out.

What are your goals for 2024? I’d love to hear them and keep you accountable!
