10 things I hate working as a career coach:
10. Every day, I get to help people find their dream careers
The spark in their eyes when the haze lifts and we are able to finally clearly identify what their dream job looks like?
The excitement when we land an offer they never thought possible?
Nothing compares.
9. I get very emotional at my work.
Especially when my clients experience personal breakthroughs.
8. I get lovely messages from people who thank me for helping them find their confidence.
And DMs from listeners of my podcast who feel inspired to do something different with their career!
7. I work 1:1 with most clients.
I’ve gotten to know each of my clients really, really, really well. Many of whom have become great friends. I guess it’s impossible to maintain personal/professional boundaries in this role?!
6. I am my own boss - no one is telling me what to do anymore.
When I read something interesting online, I can implement it ASAP in my business. There’s no month-long approval process to go through. The sky truly is the limit
5. I eat what I kill
Sometimes, I could earn in 1 month what would take me 1 year to earn!
4. I curate my own colleagues
If I work with someone that isn’t the right ‘cultural fit’, I leave. I don’t have to spend my 9-5 working with someone I don’t click with!
3. My baby is going to get sick of me
Since I WFH, I tend to balance feeding / playing / caring for my baby in between all of my work. I don’t need to ship her off to daycare or disappear an entire day to get work done. My daughter is probably going to get sick of me before she becomes a toddler!
2. I’m always eating healthy, home cooked food
Where did those unhealthy office snacks go?!
1. I’ve regained an obnoxious amount of self-confidence as a career coach
Because the results that my clients get are proof that what I’m teaching works.
