🐸 A frog in lukewarm water is the worst thing that can happen to your career.
Confused? Let me explain -
Many of us are in jobs we’re lukewarm about, like the frog swimming in lukewarm water.
✨We feel unhappy and unfulfilled, but it’s not terrible so we brush those feelings aside.
✨We tell ourselves that it's just a little discomfort, we should tough it out. This is real life.
✨We tell ourselves that we should be thankful we even have a job in this current economic climate.
✨We convince ourselves that at least it pays the bills - it could be so much worse.
But… at the back of our minds we know something isn’t quite right
😩And over time, this gut feeling worsens.
😩It can come in the form of stress, lack of confidence, or confusion and unhappiness
Things start to boil, just like the pot of water the frog is in.
And before you know it…
😩You’ve lost your sense of self, and the stress and anxiety start to seep into life outside of work and the relationships in your life
❌And because it was a slow boil, you didn’t see it coming.
❌You didn’t even recognize that you’re dying a slow death in boiling water
And it might actually have been better if the water had been boiling all along
And if you had been in a job that was completely horrible
You would have leapt out and left immediately.
==
I know that feeling well.
I was working in finance or 7 years and kept telling myself to be grateful & to tough it out
It took me years to realize that I was that frog in boiling water who had completely lost herself
Believing that it was normal to sacrifice my happiness to fit into society.
It took a long time to find the courage to take the leap and I really don't want anyone else to have to wait as long as I did to take the leap.
You deserve better.
It’s not normal to hate your job.
You shouldn’t let the water boil you past breaking point. 🌡️
